In Conversation with: Daniel Hanicz

What does your typical day as a Senior Manager Strategy look like?

Every day there are new, diverse and exciting challenges. Together with the account teams, I work on annual planning and general marketing and media strategies for our customers. I am also the contact person for questions around target groups and consumer behavior, for which I use our wide range of analysis tools. My team and I also work together on the further development of our agency, as well as on pitches to win new clients.

What skills are most important for your daily work?

Our clients want clear recommendations and solutions from us. We observe the market and our competitors very closely, in order to be able to derive the right strategy for each individual challenge. Understanding correlations and effects requires a lot of thinking. Analytical skills are therefore an important requirement for this job. Another crucial skill is storytelling. Even great ideas and concepts must be presented in a well-structured and exciting way to be able to convince the customer.

What has been your greatest success at Starcom so far?

There are many things we can be proud of in our job. Every pitch won is a great team success. For me personally, it was very special to reach the finals of the Media Youngsters competition twice and to present live in front of a top-class jury.

What makes Starcom special to you?

The people. My colleagues make our agency special. Our working atmosphere is based on trust, flexibility and supporting each other. And: The roof terrace with a view of the Frankfurt skyline isn't too bad for an after-work drink either.
